Here are the best ways to get free books online in 2020

I really love to read! I’m a real bookworm. And I’m constantly looking for the best ways to get free books online. Why? Because books can be quite expensive!

I have a Kindle that I love. While there is something about reading regular books, a Kindle or an e-reader has so many advantages that it’s so great to own. There are so many great authors to choose from these days that it can be difficult to decide what to read.

Imagine it’s late at night and you want to read a book, but you never made it to the library. With the Kindle, you can get all your books on the spot without leaving your home during office hours. Also, there is no need to wait for delivery from the bookstore.

It’s also very easy if someone has trouble storing heavy books, that’s a huge bonus. Kindles are also great if you’re short on space – instead of cluttering your home with stacks of books, you can conveniently fit them into one small device. This is great if you are traveling too. No need to bind yourself with one or two books – you can take your entire bookshelf with you! You don’t need to have an e-book to read online. You can use a variety of devices, including any web browser, various applications such as the Kindle app, and other e-book readers.

Now that I’ve sold you the ability to read books digitally, here are some of the best places to get free books online.

3 places to have free books online

  1. Overdrive. Many public library systems use Overdrive for their e-book collections. Yes, libraries have a variety of online book options. You can easily download free books from your library system. I love using the Libby app to use Overdrive from my phone. It works the same way as a physical library. You can check books, put books away, and even recommend books for purchase at the library. The best part? No late fees. Since the books are automatically returned on the day they are returned, you cannot forget to return them and pay a commission. So it’s really free. To use Overdrive, money doesn’t have to go out of your hands. All you need is a regular library card and you’re done!
  2. Project Gutenberg is a digital library that uploads free e-books to the public domain to make them publicly available. It’s a great resource for free e-books, but it can be tricky to find books that might be interesting to read if you don’t know what you are looking for. Here’s how to download books from Project Gutenberg to your Kindle, and here is a list of 2780+ Project Gutenberg books that you can download, divided by category.
  3. Free Amazon eBooks. Yes. Amazon Kindle eBooks for Free! Just search for e-books and sort them from low to high. Make sure you select books with a Kindle price of $ 0.00. This is more of a hit and miss as it depends on which books Amazon decides to put up for sale at any given moment.

2 Ways to Get Creative to Get Free Books Online

  1. Amazon Core Member Credit is specifically for core members. Before ordering this item, check if Amazon offers free digital credit for delaying your order. If you do not need your order within two days, then it is worth getting it. Sometimes your package will still arrive at a later delivery date. These credits can be used to purchase e-books from the Amazon Kindle collection. Keep in mind: These credits are expiring, so you want to use them before they appear, or send a message to Amazon to see if they will renew them for you (YMMV)
  2. Subscribe to the mailing list of letters from authors. Authors want you to read their books, so they often run giveaways or let you know about discounts on their books. Google, the author you especially like, and subscribe to their emails and you might be able to log in to win a free book.
