Top 10 highest paying jobs, according to women

Do you firmly believe that professionals make too much money? You have company. Recently, someone took to Reddit to ask women, “Which jobs are definitely overpaid?” Here are the answers with the most votes.

1. Influencers

“Influential people. In most cases, they don’t even have any effect. I call them content creators,” shared one of them. A second Redditor suggested: “They make people buy the clothes they wear and the products they use. Their content is often just a vehicle to show you an ad, or better said “a message from today’s sponsor”.

2. Policies

“Politicians,” one of them claimed. “Congress and the Senate in the United States serve for less than half a year, receive fully paid medical care, and usually take high-paying jobs in the private sector after their term expires.” Others noted, “Let’s not forget they can vote to raise their wages” and “Don’t forget about insider trading.”

3. Professional athletes

Many in the thread agreed that professional athletes make too much money, while others objected. One of them stated: “I agree that athletes have hard jobs and short careers and deserve fair compensation, but it depends on the sport in question.

Olympic athletes, for example, practically live from hand to mouth. On the other hand, professional athletes range from “minimum wage” to “obscenely overpaid”.

4. CEOs

One Redditor nominated “CEOs. Top CEO compensation increased 940.3% from 1978 to 2018 in the US. In 2018, the average CEO salary at the top 350 US companies was $17.2 million. The typical worker’s annual wage increased by 11.9% over the same period. This is the highest figure in the world in absolute terms and in relation to the average salary in the United States.”

5. Anyone who is famous in the entertainment industry

“Almost everyone who is famous in the entertainment industry. Their income confuses me,” admitted one of them. Another shared, “As someone who has worked at the lower levels of the entertainment industry, I completely agree.

Thousands of film crew work 12+ hour days, are treated like absolute trash, and do all the hard work, literally and figuratively, to make a film happen, and they don’t earn enough to live, while a handful actors and executives on any given picture brings in millions and millions of millions of dollars.”

6. Government employees

Some volunteered: “My roommate who works for the Canadian government and spends most of his day ‘working’ at home when in fact he’s away on business, going out and playing video games. It’s so frustrating to see my taxes go towards the pay of someone who works 4 out of the 8 hours they’re generously paid for.”

7. Real estate agents

Many people in the thread named real estate agents. “The salesman and I did not like our agents and fired ours. It was my first home purchase and he gave me a discount cheaper than if we had to pay a commission. I just found a real estate lawyer who handled everything with my broker. Then I realized how many scammers.

8 American Pastors

“In some areas, especially in the south of the Bible Belt, there are American pastors,” one admitted. “I worked at a large Baptist church in a southern state. Our head pastor made over $100,000 a year, worked 10-20 hour weeks, drove a brand new mustang, lived in a big, beautiful house in one of the richest neighborhoods in the city, and generally lived afloat.

Don’t get me wrong, he was a nice guy and had good intentions, but people don’t care how much pastors are overpaid. The American Church is first and foremost a scam.”

9. University administration

“University administrators,” one said. “Meanwhile, some teachers are paid so little that they have to work on multiple campuses to make a living. The administration also saves on the teaching staff they hire. They don’t hire as many full-time professors who are better paid, and they can’t be fired for no reason because they cost more to hire.”

10. Hospital administration

“Hospital administrators or anyone who can afford to live comfortably as long as their employees are on food stamps. Share the wealth,” one replied. The second shared: “The CEO of my ‘non-profit’ hospital made $3.5 million this year. And that results in annual losses of half a billion dollars.”
